Our "WissensWerte Kunststoffe" workshop took place in Glandorf on September 18, 2025. The goal of the event was to bring together current knowledge from practice, development, and research—and thus provide guidance in an industry that is rapidly evolving in the face of innovation, sustainability, and market pressure.
Insights into Production
The day began with a tour of the Faust Kunststoffwerk production facility. Here, participants were able to experience firsthand how modern plastics processing works in series production: from precise tool technology to automated production and quality control. The company presentation emphasized how medium-sized companies can remain competitive through specialization and process optimization.
Technically in-depth presentations
The following speakers provided exciting discussions and food for thought with their contributions:
Dirk Bonikowski, GRÄSSLIN NORD GmbH : He highlighted the role of technical data sheets . In addition to the actual structure, the focus was primarily on relevant key figures such as tensile strength, impact strength, and heat resistance – values that determine the correct material selection in everyday life.
Matthias Fuhrmann, ALBIS Distribution GmbH & Co. KG : His presentation demonstrated the diversity of modern compounds . Through the targeted combination of base polymers with fillers, additives, or reinforcing fibers, materials are created that are precisely tailored to requirements such as stiffness, flame retardancy, or UV resistance. This highlighted the close connection between material development and application innovation.
Marius Feder, Kunststoff-Institut Lüdenscheid : With his presentation entitled "Quo Vadis?", he looked ahead: Topics such as the circular economy , bio-based raw materials , and digitalization in materials testing are shaping the future of the industry. His presentation emphasized that research and industry must work even more closely together to reconcile sustainability and performance.
Our conclusion:
The workshop impressively demonstrated the importance of continuous exchange between industry, research, and users. Participants gained a wide range of insights, from practical production processes to the precise evaluation of material metrics and strategic questions for the future.
We would like to thank all speakers, guests and partners for their contributions – and are already looking forward to the continuation of our successful series “WissensWerte Kunststoffe” .
