The demands on materials in hydrogen systems are high – especially in terms of storage, transport, and control. To advance innovative solutions along the H₂ value chain, Faust is now involved in the H2-Konkret innovation network, initiated by the Kunststoff-Institut Lüdenscheid .
The network brings together companies, research institutions, and industrial partners to develop application-oriented solutions for the future hydrogen market. The goal is to bring new technologies to market more quickly – by integrating a wide range of expertise.
Plastic components as a key technology
Plastic components are playing an increasingly important role in H₂ systems. They not only enable lightweight and corrosion-resistant components, but also economically attractive manufacturing solutions – for example, for pipes, valves, housings, or sensor integration.
"Hydrogen technology places high demands on the materials used – particularly in terms of pressure, temperature, and permeation. This is where modern plastics can specifically exploit their advantages," explains a Faust spokesperson.
Contribution from Faust in the network
As a development partner, Faust contributes its expertise in the material-specific design and series production of technical plastic parts. Key areas of focus include:
Support in material selection and component design
Development of standard-compliant components for H₂ applications
Use of the latest manufacturing and testing technologies
The aim is to work with network partners to develop solution-oriented approaches for industrial applications – from the concept phase to implementation in series production.
Cooperation as an engine of innovation
The participation in H2-Konkret underscores Faust's strategic focus on new application areas in plastics technology. In connection with the energy transition and the development of a hydrogen economy, numerous new challenges are currently emerging – but also opportunities for specialized suppliers.
About the H2-Konkret network
The H2-Konkret innovation network is organized and funded by the Kunststoff-Institut Lüdenscheid. It brings together companies from various technology sectors to develop concrete H₂ projects – with a focus on applications in mobility, infrastructure, and industry.
